Time to Settle Up with Sony BMG

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is looking to make sure that consumers get to participate in the settlement process of the EFF's class action lawsuit against Sony BMG.

This class action lawsuit was filed in response to Sony BMG placing viral software on a variety of music CDs that installed software on people's computers without even having been given permission, and doing so even if the user disagreed and canceled the installation; their software then compromised the security of the user's machines. Even Sony BMG's uninstall software caused further problems and failed to fully remove the software because it had already overwritten proprietary software belonging to Microsoft.
